Whole/Half Hogs:

These pigs have been rotationally grazed on pasture and deep bedded in a a hoop over winter, fed a diverse feed ration of small grains (Non-GMO small grains), and treated to fruit and veggies, whey from Lost Lake Farm, and spent grains from Alluvial Brewing.

We anticipate that they will be hanging around 200-220 pounds at processing.  Payment is made to us for the price per hanging weight, and payment is made to Story City Locker for processing.

Whole Hog: $4/pound hanging weight-Deposit of $100

Half Hog: $4.50/pound hanging weight-Deposit of $50

What you take Home: In addition to chops, ribs, roasts, hams and ground pork, there are bones, fat, and organs.  Not sure what to do with that? We make bone broth, render the fat into lard, and treat the pets with the organs. It is recommended to figure around 4 to 5 cubic feet per whole hog.  If it seems like a lot for your own family, think about pairing up with another family to share the pork.

Out of a whole hog, you can expect to get the following (divide in half for half orders):
  • 10 to 15 pounds of bacon
  • 2 to 3 pounds of jowl bacon
  • 5 to 8 pounds of spare ribs
  • 25 to 35 pounds of loin (chops or roasts)
  • 25 to 35 pounds of hams
  • 20 to 30 pounds of ground
  • 15 to 25 pounds of shoulder roasts (boston butt roast)
  • 10 to 12 pounds of hocks
  • 10 to 15 pounds of fat (back and leaf)
  • 2 to 3 pounds of organs
  • 5 to 10 pounds of bones

Story City Locker:  Feel free to ask us or speak directly with Story City Locker about submitting your cut instructions for your half or whole.  There are many options available on the cut sheet form, and you won't select all of the options.

Processor payment: $1/pound hanging weight.  This is the fee you pay when you pick up your meat to Story City Locker. It covers the slaughter, cutting, wrapping and freezing. If you want to have your bacon or hams smoked and cured ($1.50), ground pork seasoned as sausage($.65-.80), or other special requests, there are additional fees per pound.
